Cyrus Bezyan is a Sydney based director, writer and comedian. Cyrus has worked in development across film, tv, digital and live events for a range of broadcasters and production companies including Comedy Central, the ABC and Matchbox/NBCUniversal to a name a few. In 2021, Cyrus had a published story selected by the Board of Studies to become a prescribed text and examination material in the Higher School Certificate. This has ensured, as sanctioned by the state, that future generations know his name. Cyrus has written on several shows and co-wrote a comedy web series for the ABC, a web series for Comedy Central and in 2019 had an animated series (currently in development) presented at the Asian Animation Summit and Annecy International Animation Festival. From 2015 to 2018, he was the digital editor for Comedy Central Australia and New Zealand overseeing the commissioning, development and production of digital content. He was also a producer on Comedy Central’s platforms across broadcast and live events. As a comedian, he’s performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Splendour in the Grass Music Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Sydney Fringe Festival as well as for Comedy Central. In 2014 he was a Triple J RAW National Finalist. More recently Cyrus has branched out into working as an independent animator as well as writing and directing for the video game industry. Cyrus holds a Masters of Screen Arts in Screenwriting from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (as well as a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting :-/) he also worked full time in a Blockbuster Video Store for 2 years… which is like getting a PhD in ‘the biz’… Please get in touch if you would like a full credit list and more info.
